The staff and parents liked the proposed design for the new 2-story classroom wing. b. Railings on the courtyard side might need some pattern of different heights to add variety to the façade. It is preferred not to have painted pipe railing. c. Parents suggested adding more colors to the existing palette. Design team suggested adding one accent color and keeping the existing colors. d. Natural ventilation is proposed at the new building. Parents explained that the Jackson building at Fairmeadow was designed for natural ventilation and it is very hot. District to confirm with maintenance staff if night cooling would be possible. e. Soccer fields might need to be reduced if there is no space on the east side of the property to restripe them. District to provide accurate survey. f. The placement of trees on the east side of the new building was welcomed for its shading purposes. g. Design team to research the possibility of using purple plumbing for future reclaimed water use. h. Design team to review space between the terraced landscape aisle and the stairs of the new building to avoid “bottleneck” effect. i. A meeting with the fire department is pending to confirm access to campus and the new building. j. Space for additional bike racks was proposed between the 000i and the new building. Using the racks suggested by the Palo Alto Traffic Committee, the capacity would be of approximately 20 bikes. Page 2 of 2 11.2 Existing Classroom Wings a. The idea of using permeable pavers was accepted. Design team to research type during Design Development Phase. b. Selected trees and planting species was coordinated with the list approved by the City of Palo Alto. Selection was also based on the lees allergen types. c. Teachers agreed that the different outdoor seating areas were going to be a positive addition to the campus and very much used by students. 11.3 Next Steps a. Community Meeting b.
