Item # Notes
2.1
Schedule
a. SD package will be submitted to PAUSD Board of Education in February 2010.
2.2
Auditorium
a. Option 1: proposes a total of 4,800SF of new construction, resulting in an auditorium that
is 4,000SF. This option requires structural work on existing building due to opening the
stage towards the new addition. Band Rooms and storage would be placed in the existing
cafetorium.
b. Option 2: is similar to Option 1 but suggest a larger addition in order to accommodate part
of the storage needs.
c. Option 3: suggests a structurally independent building. This requires more new
construction but avoids affecting the structure of the existing building. This option was
preferred because it presented improved storage areas and better sight lines in
auditorium.
d. Wing space should be considered for performances.
e. Provide two doors from stage for backstage circulation or crossover. Since this would be
outdoors, it should be covered.
f. Monitors in Band Rooms should be provided if these would be used as green rooms.
g. Size electrical system to support a grid on stage.
h. Two new tennis courts will be built to keep a total of six courts in campus.
2.3
New Building
a. One story building with six classrooms
b. Classrooms designed with the possibility of housing 6Th grade program. Access would be
from the back of the room, where cabinets, counter and sink would be located. Front of
room will have a smart board and marker boards on each side. There would be a break
out area.
c. It is preferred to reduce the amount of VCT flooring and maximize carpet.
d. Pitched roofs and clerestories will provide natural light.
e. For budget purposes, a smaller conference room could be considered.

2.3
New Wing
Continued
f. Three options where studied with the consulting Traffic engineer. These were discussed
with the Traffic Safety Committee. It was preferred not to add another curbcut to avoid
impact on pedestrians and bike route. The traffic consultant will finalize his analysis and
will present a recommendation.
g. Upon receipt of Topographic Survey, distance from new building to existing science wing
will be verified. Science teachers use the outside space for their program.
2.4
M wing - Art
a. Concrete raisers will be removed to adapt M1 room to a 3D studio.
b. The office space and storage will be enlarged towards M2. M2 will remain a smaller
classroom.
c. There are currently drainage problems on the back of M wing that should be addressed,
especially with the placement of the kilns.
d. Electrical upgrades to account for track lighting.
2.5
G wing - Science
a. Convert three (E) classrooms into two labs.
b. Prep rooms are OK and can support the six science rooms.
c. Sinks in new labs were reduced to a total of four. Teacher prefers to have this at the
intersection of the counters with the stations. District might prefer better access to these.
2.6
Next Steps
a. The preferred Option for the Auditorium is over the allocated budget. More information and
cost estimate on the rest of the scope will be provided in mid January for the Committee to
evaluate.
