Jordan MS · Jordan indicated that their current enrollment is 940. · A 6th grade core consists of 2 teachers, they currently have 6 cores. Possible expansion to 7 cores. · The indicated a possible expansion of total 2 more cores at the 7th and 8th grade levels. · They indicated that they don’t need a separate teaming room but would like to use their existing library as a teaming/meeting room by re-arranging walls. · They would ideally like all the 6th grade classrooms to be together or nearby rather than existing where they are spread out in separate buildings. · 6th grade optimum class size is 26 and 7th/8th grades optimum class size is 28. · Their current resource rooms are under-utilized about 10 students per period. · Classes happen 4 times a week, 7 periods a day. Wednesdays only have 4 periods. Rest of the day is advisory. · They indicated that their Science classrooms are used to the full degree of science classrooms. Room G3 maybe used as a new science classroom. · Special Ed., SDC rooms are used all day. There is no sharing in these rooms. For Info. Page 2 of 3 · Elective classrooms go through a rotation of the 6, 6th grade cores and 7th/8th graders sign up for the same rooms. · Departmental chairs are called instructional supervisors. · Jordan also indicated that they are the magnate program for special education students so they have more Special Ed. And SDC classes than the other Middle Schools. · During the field walk it came to light that the counselor’s rooms are tight and 1 more office maybe needed. · AEDIS asked for the administrators to collect comments/input from the staff on issues that might affect the staff at a global pre-design level consideration before the next meeting. 2.2 b. J.L Stanford Middle School · Current enrollment at JLS is @ 925. · 6th grade optimum class size is 27 and 7th/8th grades optimum class size is 28. · Elective room sizes are random. · They follow the same core pattern as Jordan. 6th grade has a core of 2 teachers while 7th/8th grade has a core of 4 teachers. · JLS has a Connections Program which is ongoing for 10 years. It’s currently housed at their former teaming room. They feel this program is going to be larger next year with another teacher and will probably need a bigger space. · Flex room is not needed. A teaming room is required at this school. · Current staff lounge is also used as a copy room · Kitchen here is the central kitchen for all the middle and elementary schools. · No fixed staff meeting space. · Science classrooms are general science classrooms and not the same level as High Schools. · Science department has a good sized room used as prep room, storage and departmental teacher meeting room. · AEDIS asked for the administrators to collect comments/input from the staff on issues that might affect the staff at a global pre-design level consideration before the next meeting. For Info. 2.3 c. Terman Middle School · No growth at this campus. Enrollment to stay at 675. · Current enrollment is 650. · 6th grade optimum class size is 26 and 7th/8th grades optimum class size is 28. · A5 computer lab is classroom use only. There is no computer resource lab. · They follow the same core pattern as Jordan. 6th grade has a core of 2 teachers while 7th/8th grade has a core of 4 teachers. · G4 & G8 large enough for science classroom. J4 & J7 are too small for science and flex rooms. · Administration needs more room. · No teaming room required. · Cafetorium used all the time. · Admin staff -10 min. 1 or 2 more offices required. Total staff @60. · Campus is on radiant heat. School is satisfied with existing heating system. For Info. All meetings would be held at the respective school sites.
