How long would it take for students to access either building location? 2. Parking lot changes and drop off issues were a concern for the building near the admin. 3. Communities view of this option versus the other option. 4. Noise concerns from the gymnasium. 5. Safety concerns when the students disburse from this building during breaks, lunch, after school. 6. Impact of the student quality of school with a building located near the parking lot, gym and admin. Near Industrial Arts Building Option: 1. How long would it take for students to access either building location? 2. How much asphalt would be lost with the building located near the industrial arts building? 3. Noise concerns from the industrial arts building. 4. Mitchell Park may become a drop off and pick up location for students. 5.2 It was discussed and agreed that with the new classroom building the site would need (14) 6th grade classrooms on site and they would prefer to locate them all near each other. No designated science rooms for 6th grade would be needed. PROJECT: JL Stanford Middle School DATE: 4/20/09 MEETING: Advisory Committee Mtg #5 PROJECT NO: 28066.00 Page 2 of 2 5.3 Science building 600: 1. Convert room 620 to a science room. 2. Upgrade room 630 to match all the other science room layout and functions. 3. The ventilation and heating system for the entire building needs to be fixed. 4. The prep room layout and the other remaining classrooms would remain as is except for IT and heating/ventilation upgrades. 5.4 New classroom building will need additional storage room(s) and exterior lockers. 5.5 Drainage is an issue on site and will need to be addressed. Especially where the decomposed granite (DG) is located between the classroom wings. This material is tracked into the classrooms and damages the flooring and makes a mess. 5.6 It was discussed that a separate site walk to review the gymnasium needs should be scheduled.
