New Items Action By ITEM
1.0 Site Plan fyi GPA presented two options for Committee review and discussion. See
attached. The committee liked the idea of a specific "positive" shape for the
field as seen in option 2.
fyi Committee said that ending the covered walk at the end of the new building
would be sufficient for students and staff
fyi Committee likes Chinese Pistache tree as an option for the new trees to
shade the blacktop area. Liquid Amber drops seed pods and are not desired
by Committee. Mulberry trees were also proposed by Committee for use in
the classroom. GPA to further research options.
O'Connor District to provide recommended planting list, arborist review and
consultations
fyi Committee commented that both basketball courts are used simultaneously
for organized play and should remain but could be relocated. GPA to look
into relocating kickball area away from entry, possible in grass, to prevent
balls from hitting people. Committee suggested adding striping for relay
races.
fyi Committee would like areas within the play zones that accommodate reading
or small group activities. Adding benches around library a proposed solution.
fyi Drinking fountain will be added in Kindergarten play area. GPA to look at
adding an addition exterior fountain near the Jackson building or near the new
2-story building in a way that it can be shared. Fountain desired in shaded
location, close to building so teacher can send students out to use during
class. Drinking fountain bubblers will be provided at all classroom sinks.
fyi Committee discussed having sand areas in the natural play area and their
concern with animals using these areas. GPA to look at having small sand
areas within the "desert" region that could be covered or filled in later if
problems arose. GPA to research options.
