See attached. The committee liked the idea of a specific "positive" shape for the field as seen in option 2. fyi Committee said that ending the covered walk at the end of the new building would be sufficient for students and staff fyi Committee likes Chinese Pistache tree as an option for the new trees to shade the blacktop area. Liquid Amber drops seed pods and are not desired by Committee. Mulberry trees were also proposed by Committee for use in the classroom. GPA to further research options. O'Connor District to provide recommended planting list, arborist review and consultations fyi Committee commented that both basketball courts are used simultaneously for organized play and should remain but could be relocated. GPA to look into relocating kickball area away from entry, possible in grass, to prevent balls from hitting people. Committee suggested adding striping for relay races. fyi Committee would like areas within the play zones that accommodate reading or small group activities. Adding benches around library a proposed solution. fyi Drinking fountain will be added in Kindergarten play area. GPA to look at adding an addition exterior fountain near the Jackson building or near the new 2-story building in a way that it can be shared. Fountain desired in shaded location, close to building so teacher can send students out to use during class. Drinking fountain bubblers will be provided at all classroom sinks. fyi Committee discussed having sand areas in the natural play area and their concern with animals using these areas. GPA to look at having small sand areas within the "desert" region that could be covered or filled in later if problems arose. GPA to research options. School would like to maintain an open feeling between asphalt and field area. fyi Site prefers clusters of trees vs. formal rows fyi School prefers 3 ball walls over current volleyball court fyi In natural play area, decomposed granite a surface option for dessert area fyi Walking loop preferred around field instead of on blacktop for visibility from the field. fyi Committee would like a kids whiteboard or blackboard in outdoor eating areas. GPA GPA to add hanging and balancing features in the Kindergarten play area. 2.0 Next Step GPA GPA to further develop site plans and present at next Landscape Committee meeting on Dec. 6.
