The following new items were discussed:
New Items Action By ITEM
2.1 Scope/ Program fyi Greendell is a district pre-school site with 16 pre-school classrooms. The site is
shared with the JCC, which occupies 4 classrooms in a permanent building and 9
portable classrooms. Combined with the JCC, there are 600 students on campus.
Bond proposal is to modernize existing classrooms.
fyi The pre-school is district run and is combined with adult education. Parents stay on
campus as part of the adult school program. There are night classes on campus.
fyi The JCC is supposed to be off of the campus as of this summer.
fyi There are high school vocational education classes and ESL classes on campus.
There is a desire to keep these programs on campus. Greendell is viewed as a
community school, serving families of students at the same time as the students
themselves.
fyi Classrooms are used at both day and night. The same classrooms are used for pre-
school and adult education.
fyi The campus needs a place to store larger tables and chairs for adult students.
fyi The pre-school program is exempt from licensing because it is part of the district.
There is no Head Start money for this school, but Greendell does give out a lot of
scholarships.
fyi Parents bring a snack and lunch for the students on campus. There is a small
convenience cooking station in the MP room.
fyi All 9 JCC portables have kitchens and restrooms. Existing portables are not suited to
pre-schoolers. Window sizes are wrong heights, and portables are generally the wrong
learning environment for pre-school.
fyi Permanent buildings have not been modernized and need heating and lighting
improvements.
Fyi/GPA One possible opportunity is to move special education currently at Briones to
Greendell, and then convert the existing county building at Briones to classrooms.
GPA to investigate whether county building at Briones complies with Field Act.
2.2 Site Layout fyi Possible scheme would add 1 story, 6 classroom building to replace portables on
southeast side of campus. 2 classrooms could be added to existing classrooms on
southwest side of campus to form U shaped courtyard.
fyi Possible scheme would add 1 story 8 classroom L shaped building along south east
side of campus to replace existing portables.
fyi Possible scheme would add 2 story, 12 classroom building on southeast side of
campus to replace existing portables.
