The following new items were discussed:
New Items Action By ITEM
2.1 Scope/ Program fyi Bond work for Escondido consists of 8 classrooms replacing existing portables on site
and 1 flex classroom.
fyi Preserving green space is of primary importance at any new work at Escondido. A
variety of non-traditional green play areas of different sizes are preferred.
fyi Escondido has 540 students. There is a Spanish immersion program on campus.
There are 2 strand Spanish immersion classes for a total 4 ½ strand school. The
immersion program will expand by 10 students next year. It is possible that 2 special
day classes will move to another campus next year.
fyi Previous work done on the restrooms is insufficient. There are not enough urinals for
the boys restrooms.
fyi There is a need for a conference room for staff and parent – teacher meetings on
campus.
fyi The current mechanical system in the MP room creates a lot of noise.
fyi Traffic and parking are a problem on campus. It may be possible to reconfigure the
parallel parking to angled parking for more spaces.
fyi Placing new buildings along the nursery property line would cause a noise problem
with the neighbors.
fyi It is preferred to place the flex room near the MP room.
fyi There is currently one day care portable on campus. There may be a need for
another day care for next year. This is currently not part of the bond.
fyi There is a desire for a staff shower on campus.
fyi There is a desire for larger 1440 sf classrooms.
fyi Exterior coat hooks for classrooms are preferred.
fyi More bike parking would be useful on campus.
Fyi A possibility for new classroom layout is the “fat L,” which would provide space for
small group activities or teacher meeting areas. Exterior spaces adjacent to
classrooms are possible to extend classroom.
2.2 Site Layout fyi Possible scheme would add 1 flex room at MP room. 2 story classroom buildings
would be located at existing 3rd grade classroom buildings.

be located between library and existing 3rd grade classroom buildings.
